Mountain Spirit Retreat
This is it! A final opportunity to practice with me in the gorgeous Mojave Desert before I depart upon my next spiritual saga. LA has been my home for the last 10 years and now I am going to pour my heart into a weekend of yoga practice, spiritual exploration, and healing on the weekend of 2/29-3/1.
Tae Goh Sah, known in English as Mountain Spirit Center is a Korean Zen Buddhist Monastery and the spiritual energy here is charged. It’s a Temple built on, by the grace of the indigenous community, what used to be a Native American ceremonial ground. Just walking through the outdoors here is enough to clear your mind and take you to another dimension. And we’ll be doing so much more than that, as I incorporate a program of yoga, meditation, creative writing, nature hikes, free movement expression, breath-work, sound baths, special chanting, and purifying saunas. Delicious, vegetarian temple food will be prepared and provided by the delightful Korean nuns who run the facility. If you want to escape, you will escape! If you want to relax, you will relax. If you want to transform, you will transform!
The temple grounds are impressive and beautiful and the interior of the living quarters is clean and cozy, but remember simplicity is key to contentment! The sleeping space is shared. If you still wish to attend but aren’t so comfortable with that, the building is pretty big and a more private nook can be carved out. There are gym mats and fold-out sleeping pads, but you will be asked to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, and two towels. If you do not own a sleeping bag they can be provided.
The second towel is only needed if you wish to use the incredible, glass encased Sauna! Bathing suits or shorts and T-shirts are still requested for attire. This beautiful space constructed out of fallen, old-growth trees and glass, lets you purify your system with a healthy sweat, as you are surrounded by stunning desert views.
The cost for this experience is $252. Four meals, sleeping accommodations, sauna use, and spiritual programming is included. It is important to bring warm winter clothes and shoes that can handle desert terrain. The drive itself to Tehachapi takes 2 hours. You may drive up separately or carpool. If you need a ride or are willing to offer your services as a driver, please let me know in your email when you confirm your attendance. The address is 8400 Juniper Way, Tehachapi, CA 93561
